The Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC) is a not-for-profit research institute of the State University System of Florida, with campuses in Pensacola and Ocala. Founded in 1990 and made independent in 2004, its scientists and engineers research artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotics and exoskeletons, cybersecurity, and healthspan, resilience, and performance. In 2024 it opened a $40 million Healthspan, Resilience, and Performance complex in downtown Pensacola.
